Dr. Erin Klingensmith was born in Media, Pennsylvania and grew up in New London Township (Southeast PA) on a small hobby farm. Dr. Klingensmith graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Dairy Science and Animal & Poultry Sciences (Bachelors of Science). She then went to vet school at Cornell University where she graduated in 2018. She grew up riding horses and then moved to a small farm where her family had beef cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, and chickens. Dr. Klingensmith began riding with their large animal vet and fell in love with large animal medicine. The first time she saw a DA surgery on an Amish farm, she knew she wanted to be a dairy vet. Dr. Klingensmith’s professional interests are in advanced reproductive technologies (embryo transfer and IVF), and calf management but she is excited to continue learning about other aspects of the dairy industry and can’t wait to see where that takes her. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. Dr. Klingensmith’s personal interests include hiking, running, skiing, baking, and horseback riding. She is lucky to have extremely supportive parents and a brother who enabled her to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Klingensmith resides in Sparta, New York with her significant other who is a dairy farmer. Her furry family consists of a mixed breed dog, Trixi, dairy show cattle, and an Arabian, Chance.
