Establishing and Maintaining Vaccination Programs
Sound immunization programs are essential for maintaining herd health and productivity. We attempt to design immunization programs that “fit” each operation’s unique needs. Whether the herd is closed or a “revolving door” of animals, the Perry Vet veterinarian creates vaccine schedules that work at that farm. “Farm Specific” vaccines are often necessary and vaccines are created from on-farm cultures when possible.
Establishing and Maintaining Reproduction Programs
Reproduction on modern dairy farms has become very challenging. More and more animals in confinement on concrete at all times and higher levels of production are factors that have contributed to poorer reproductive performance. Recently, timed breeding programs and intravaginal devices to synchronize cows have become the mainstay on farms. The Perry Vet veterinarians will work on the farm to design and evaluate a breeding program that will work best for your particular operation.
Establishing Herd New Edition Protocols & Disease Surveillance
Many farms buy new additions each year. It is important to make sure that animals entering the herd are free of infectious disease and well immunized. We have specific recommendations for testing and vaccinating animals that will be bought. Maintaining disease free herds and reducing the risk of disease outbreaks is important.
Routine Disease Diagnoses and Treatment
Perry Vet offers routine disease diagnosis and treatment. The clinic has full in-house blood chemistry and hematology units to aid in the diagnosis of disease and metabolic problems. We also work closely with many labs around the country and this is another tool used to aid our veterinarians and clients in obtaining proper diagnoses of herd or individual cow problems.
Surgical Services (On Farm)
Perry Vet performs a full range of surgical procedures from traditional abdominal surgery for displaced abomasum correction and hernias, to elective or emergency C-sections.
